Had this for the second time (in as many visits) to Tom Nickels' O'Brien's Pub -- where it only stands to reason that he would highlight his own excellent beers...! And while that might seem kinda shady to folks who don't know Tom..., trust me, he alone does more for the SD Brewing Scene than some entire breweries in the area do, and has earned the right to strut his stuff a bit.

This beer, for example, is indeed "strut-worthy". Hard to think of a beer more-or-less born at O'Brien's not being a >100+ IBU hop-bomb Double IPA -- but this is no slouch in the almighty Hop, either.

Much like it's fellow wet-hopped brother-in-arms (e.g Russian River Hop Time Harvest Ale), this beer starts off on the right foot, and never looks back. Very sedate and refined, especially for a rather avant-garde style like "wet-hopped ales".

Kinda "woody" in the mouthfeel -- quite sturdy, but at no time unwelcoming or unappealing. At least the hops don't get *too* far out-of-hand -- despite popular belief, us hop-heads in SoCal don't *always* slam down mega-ultra-hoppy beers 24/7...!

A nice beer for starting off a drinking session -- and went well with my 3-Cheese Panni sandwich too. Recommended.

Light orange gold color. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is wet hops, malty and sweet. A medium to full bodied IPA. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are grapefruity, floral and a touch earthy. A major hop bomb. Coats the teeth and sticks with ya for a while. Nicely balanced. Interesting beer. Long lasting bitter aftertaste. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish si clean and dry. Aftertaste is bitter.

THis brew pours with a slightly cloudy ornge body topped by a medium thick head with a good amount of lacing. The aroma and flavor are both slightly sweet yet bitter and hoppy with a slight pine note and a little grapefruit. Great hop flavor and aroma. Medium bodied, smooth and slightly dry.
