Lazy Magnolia releases Backwoods Belgian Ale as this years summer seasonal. This summer ale is an 8.5% ABV Belgian-Style Golden Ale brewed with a “Southern” infusion of Honeysuckle flowers. It pours pale gold under a fluffy white head, lightly hopped, with fruity esters of orange, banana, and traces of sweet honey in the nose. Effervescent and refreshing, this full-bodied Golden Ale is our interpretation of the classic style with a touch of Southern sweetness. This seasonal will run from June to late August.

Comes out of the tap an attractive clear golden with a nice eggshell head. Aroma is strongly fruity, apple and some banana with a hint of pear.flavor starts with a malty core and adds apple, banana, butterscotch, and yeasty notes plus a snip of pear and a whisper of caramel. Texture is about average in the fizz and viscosity departments. Go to the backwoods for one.

I'm not really feeling this one either. Too sweet and not balanced enough. Not to the point where it's undrinkable, but if I didn't get for $1 a bottle on clearance, I would be upset paying the full price here. A flatter feel with an apple juice-like flavor. Both sweet and slightly sour. A clear light copper to gold appearance, sort of like cider. Strong beer that gives you a buzz, but a miss on the categories that count.

A crisp sunshine in color. There was no head and no lacing. That's not a good start. A yeasty-banana nose. Cloves, honeysuckle with grassy undertones are in the tasting. An interesting creation but not pleasant.
