Big, rich, dark and creamy, Winter Bock was originally brewed to sustain fasting Bavarian monks. Pours a deep chocolate hue with gentle ruby tones, crested with soft tan foam. The nose is dark chocolate, with a hint of molasses, wood smoke and vanilla. A full-bodied, smooth-sipping extravaganza greets the palate, with a burst of silky cocoa and tiramisu, balanced by hints of toast, peppery spice, and dried fruit. The finish is long and warming, with chocolate tones tailing off into earthier notes like roasted coffee.

Pours a dark brown colour with red-copper highlights. Beige head, goes away quickly leaving not much. Seems like it has notes of going bad, infected, with some sourness and vegetable notes in the smell and taste. This is weird being an 8% brew and not being that old. Plum, raisin aromas over the roasted malts. Mild brown sugars. Roasted and caramel malts for the taste, with some hints of dark fruits. Much preferred their Terrible Ted I just had before.

Pours a huge frothy brownish head and has a dark brown appearance with deep red hues. Lacing is not bad. Aromas of light roasted malts, toasty and nutty malts as well. Flavours are fairly sweet, some bready and nutty malts, notes of caramel, spices and dried fruits. Has a pretty bitter finish. Rusty like aftertaste on the palate, almost metallic like and also a bit woodsy. Astringent and puckering sensation, a little bit sour. Not too bad. My least favourite of the NHL alumni series (go figure, just like the player it's representing) :p

The beer pours a dark chestnut brown, with a thin tan ring for a head., The aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, caramel and smoked wood. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is slightly sour, roasted malt, and some burnt wood. Not a lot of complexity.
