Don't let its looks deceive you. Though it may resemble a porter or a stout, this is a light bodied ale with a pleasant hint of molasses. Don't be afraid of the dark.

I was looking forward to this, as I like darker beers and have enjoyed other black lagers. The best thing I can say about it is that it makes a tasty beer batter for a fish fry. There is very little head but it's inky black, so it looks pretty good. The aroma is like stale pond water, the flavor is a bit better than that but it feels tinny and thin. Not terrible, but certainly not very good.

Pours just like cola with a 2 finger head that goes down very fast. Well carbonated. Aroma is very malty with hints of roasts. First thing you get with the taste is a hint of metal then it goes away after a couple seconds. Sweet and sticky and yet watered down. Kinda sad when you can taste the water over the beer. Very thin. Not good.

12 oz can. Pours brown with a fizzy tan head that quickly goes to a thin film.
The aroma is sweet cola-ey roasted malts.
The flavor is sweet dark fruits with a bit of a sour twang with a little grainy roast. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.
Overall, a cola like dark ale with a touch of sourness (infection?). -

This is not a schwarzbier, it's a black ale. Flavor is more like a nut brown, very mild and nut browny. The look is more dark brown than black, nose is mild and almost not there. Not a terrible beer and I believe in supporting the UP economy. A bit of a sour metal flavor that reminds me of my days extract brewing.

Poured a dark brownish black colour with a small light brown head. Aroma is semi sweet, dark roasted malts, brown sugar and coffee beans. Taste is pleasent, but very light on the palate. Initially taste is slightly metallicy, withhlavors of black licorice and smoke.
