Not to be confused with J.T.'s American Brown Ale or Brown Bear Bitter, and a different recipe than the kegged Nut Brown, this cask version is an excellent rendition of an English Brown but just a tad more assertive. Having just returned from a real ale marathon in London, I found that this beer compares well with the best. Pulled from the cask, the body swirls a creamy gold-brown with a substantial thick, creamy, white head. The nose hints at freshly roasted hazelnuts and the mouthfeel is full and creamy. The taste is mildly nutty as well, with a nice mellow lightly-roasted flavor. Ends well with a lingering nut and toast finish. Nicely crafted.
