We came about this version of 4D by unconventional means. The classic case of a best laid plan that takes you down a different path. The upshot is that we all win for it. Not only do we have a new 4D but we set our sights hoppier for Insanity Plea Ale. 4D v.17 called Riggs was originally brewed to be our upcoming release Insanity Plea Ale, a Double IPA of Insane hoppiness. Despite copious amounts of hops throughout the brewing process, what has translated to the glass is Insanity Plea Ale’s excessively hopped but just short of insane brother, hence the Riggs moniker. We all know Riggs from Lethal Weapon was crazy but not necessarily insane. Aromatically Riggs gives a glimpse of the hop crazy that is coming your way. Tropical fruit and backnotes of earthy spice. A solid malt foundation and smooth upfront bitterness. Once you’ve committed yourself further, the bitterness builds and you realize this beer is definitely on the crazier side of hoppy. Orangy-red in color with aromas of tropical fruit and earthy spice. A balanced caramel sweet malt character makes way for the assertive hop bitterness.

Pours a beautiful clear golden amber with a decent pale buff head. Hoppy aroma has equal parts wood and resin, plus a citrus undertone. Lively flavor has firm hoppy, pine and orange notes. Texture is fairly firm and fizzy, leaving a nice hoppy finish. Go undercover and "rig" one.
