After having the Thornbridge Eldon oak-infused Stout, which I thought was overrated, doing this one. Same dark brown colour with copper highlights, warm beige head, good stay and lots more thick foamy lace. The Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey does come out very nicely in the smell, over the roasted malts giving fresh chocolate notes as well. Same for the taste. Kind of herbal notes from the Whiskey barrel with chocolate and roasted grains. A nice balance between the sweetness, roastiness and mild hops. I prefer this one.

Pours rich coffee with a thick and lasting tan head. Aroma presents roast malt, whisky and quality coffee, inviting a taste. Flavor yields quality coffee, roast malt, whisky, chocolate, woody, and shy vanilla notes. Texture offers perky fizz and smooth, firm body. Get in the spirit of things!

The beer pours a very dark brown colour with a generous rocky light brown head which lasts several minutes. The aroma was burnt wood, molasses, whiskey, and roasted malt. The mouthfeel was full bodied with above average carbonation. The flavour lacks the punch of the aroma with notes of roasted malt, some bitter soy sauce notes, dark chocolate, and minor hints of burnt wood and whiskey. While I’m not a fan of in your face barrel aged beers, I do expect there to be some barrel character and this has it, but not enough of it.
