Copper-colored, export-style pale ale. The style was originally made strong and hoppy to withstand shipping to British troops stationed in India in the 19th century. Our IPA is a well balanced ale dry hopped with Styrian Goldings for a dry, hoppy palate.

Ran into the small Independence Brewpub location at the airport (short lay-over while enroute to Boston). The special was a t-shirt, a pint glass, and a beer for $15. Since I'm a sucker for all three, I ordered the special deal with an IPA. I thought it was odd that the bartender didn't know what an IPA was, but knew what I was wanted when I said "the Indian Pale Ale". Anyway, semantics aside, the beer itself was just plain bad.

Sour medicinal aroma and taste, with a oddly slick aftertase. Soap? Bar sanitizer? Something was seriously wrong with this beer. If I had more time available, I would have probably sent the beer back. But since I had a plane to catch, I left with my t-shirt and pint glass, and left more-than-half of the beer untouched.
