Thick black pour with a dense brown head. OK lacing. Roasted malt, coffee and smoke aroma. Roasted malt flavour with dark chocolate, licorice, vanilla and a subtle peatiness. Earthy bitterness helps the balance. Smooth oily mouthfeel. Very tasty beer.

Pours an extremely thick and creamy brownish head and has a deep dark brown appearance, almost pitch black. Leaves some thick lacing all around. Aromas of a smokey, woodsy type malt, some chocolate and coffee notes also. Flavours are somewhat similar with the strong coffee and chocolate notes coming through almost immediately. Also has a bit of smokiness to it. The alcohol is fairly pronounced, not too offensive especially for the high abv. Slick and oily mouthfeel, fairly smooth sensation. Very good stuff!

Single from the LCBO with a best before date 30 08 2023. Pours real dark brown colour with a big mocha-brown head, great retention and lots of sticky foam lace. Mild roasted malt aromas at first, but turns into something bad at one point. Something like wet socks and maybe some metal. Thankfully, this goes away and some nice butterscotch notes and coffee blend in with the burnt malt. Oily and slick mouthfeel, medium to full bodied. Lots going on in the flavours with some nice bitterness from the grassy hops, covering the roasted malts. Hints of licorice, chocolate, coffee and light alcohol. No burning though. Too bad, not getting the peaty malts talked about in the description.

500 ml bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård. ABV is 10%. Pitch black colour, impressive brown head. The aroma has strong notes of peat smoked and birch smoked malts (which indeed are essential ingredients in this beer), also notes of tar, old rope and coffee, hints of dark chocolate. The flavour has loads of smoke, tar and sweet malts, caramel, roasted notes with coffee and dark bitter chocolate. Roasty and hoppy bitterness in the aftertaste. A solid imperial stout.

Pours out inan opaque black appearancetopped with a dense pale brown creamy head. Tarry and abit smokey aroma with notes of burnt malts, almonds licorice and tobacco. Full-bodied with rich roasted and tarry notes of salty licorice, burnt malts, dark chocolate, salt and and burnt crackers. Salty and tarry long burnt and roasted finish of licorice, mild wood and dark malts.
