Shared 650 ml bottle at local tasting. Black colour, low brown head. Roasty and boozy aroma, notes of molasses, hints of oak. Rich flavour, balanced roasty notes, some molasses sweetness but not too much. Good stuff.

I had this beer at Torst in Brooklyn, NY. This beer was VERY good. It was big and chewy, yet still not harsh on the palate. The aroma was choclate and coffee. The flavor tracked the aroma almost to a tee - VERY nice beer.

22oz bottle, received via trade with heybeerman -
Decadence. If I had just one word to describe this beer, that would be it. I've only had Hoppin' Frog once or twice but this was phenom. Like a great stout and a top notch dessert combined into one. The aroma is just one long stream rich chocolate, coffee, light soy notes, a little salty, and light hops. Coffee, black strap molasses, dark chocolate, earthy hops, light soy with just a tiny smidge of smoke. Thick, coating, viscous and amazing. -

Pours black and thick like a foggy night, chocolate head that doesn't last. Aroma is a bit subdued actually, roasty, buttery, chocolate and sweetness. Flavor is nearly perfect, great hop balance on such a big beer that most imps miss, great roasty burnt sugar bitterness and full bodied. I was amazed to see this at a local bottle shop, no clue how they got it but am sure glad they did.

Beer 9 of my 12 Beers of Christmas; my Christmas Eve sipper for the night. Heavy black pour, short tan head, lazy lacing. Strong alcohol first scent then burnt molasses, almost burnt black coffee, licorice, very roasted malts, dark bitter cocoa, earthy hops. Taste is also boozy with near-burnt malts, molasses, dark bitter chocolates, black licorice, some smoke, nice hops presence and bitter linger. HUGE beer. Definitely a sipper. Another winner from Hoppin' Frog - not for the faint of heart.

yeah, this one is nice...along the lines of a Yeti or Rasputin (bottle). A hoppy monster of an imperial stout with loads of roasted malts, chocolate, a toych of coffee, ample hop flavor and bitterness, a great thick chewy feel. Black as night (even the head was dark). I'd rate most everything an 8 1/2 if i could, but i guess i'll have to pick and choose :)

Bottled. Oily pitch black colour with a mediumsized beigeish brown head. Aroma is liquorice, smoked wet wood, roasted malts, toffee, raisins and chocolate in a nice balance. Flavour is being quite much the same along with some mild notes of alcohol. Long dark dry fruity and raisiny aftertaste and finish.

Loved Boris when it first came out so lets see.. Pours a coffee brown, medium foam .. . messi is sick, but barcelona are basically all divers .. . oil and light chocolate, with some bic pen ink .. . pretty good, but i like boris a bit better .. . My dental hygienist is cute. Every time I visit, I eat a whole package of Oreo cookies while waiting in the lobby. Sometimes she has to cancel the rest of the afternoon's appointments.

22oz bottle. Pours an opaque black with a medium creamy dark brown head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is sweet lactic chocolate malts, roast, grains, black licorice and a little charred leather.
The flavor is sweet chocolate with a lot of roast, black licorice, and a big charred bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is pretty full and creamy.
Overall, a nice imperial stout. It's big, but not over the top. It's a little too much charry bitterness and black licorice for me. I think I liked the regular BORIS a bit better (both are better than the barrel aged IMO), but it would be fun to do a side by side. -

Aroma is strong and smoky with tones of unsweet chocolate and quality coffee, along with more than a hint of anchovies. It pours - woo-wee, utterly black with a thick, dark tan, fine-bubbled head that hangs around - there’s no way they could improve on that, Dixie Darlin’! Flavor is WOW! Semi-sweet chocolate, quality roast coffee, hints of molasses and miso, even a touch of hops and a smidgen of anchovies. Hey, I like anchovies. Texture is fizzy, oily and thick, leaving a nice heavy mocha finish. This one is just a shade or two off perfection - at least in my book. OK, I’m prejudiced in favor of stouts and porters, but that’s just the way I iz.
