Kenneth MacAlpin united the Picts and the Scoti people to form the Kingdom of Scotland, and his descendants’ rule spanned most of the Middle Ages. Befitting the King’s boldness, this beer is double dry-hopped and packed with 5.5 pounds of Chinook, Amarillo, Simcoe, and Centennial hops. Bright and layered, it hints of pineapple, orange, grapefruit and lemon peel. Then it finishes with a resiny, piney, dry bitterness, balanced by a citrus hop punch.

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7
Pours clear amber with a fairly thick though effervescent eggshell head. Aroma has notes of evergreen hops, caramel, apple, citrus and cloves. Hops dominate the flavor, evergreen and bitter, while letting fruity, spice, and shy malty and caramel tones share the tongue. Texture has average viscosity and fizz, leaving a hoppy finish. Fit for a king? Could be.
