Every six and a half minutes a train rumbles by the brewery on the Toronto West Railpath. The pleasant and soothing clickity-clack has been an ongoing theme since we starting building the brewery in the spring of 2015. While there are GO trains serving the GTA and VIA trains serving the whole country, it’s the train that runs between Union Station and Pearson Airport that we see most often. Our UPA is a riff on the classic IPA with an ABV to match the time between trains.

The beer pours a deep gold colour, slightly hazed, with a rocky off-white head that lives for a few minutes. The aroma is caramel malt, light citrus, and yeast. The mouthfeel is full bodied with average carbonation. It falls flat on flavour however with the alcohol coming through and dominating the caramel and hop notes. As an aside, the Henderson Brewery actually backs onto the tracks on which the Union Pearson Express runs. -

Slightly better out of can than out of glass, so don't waste a pour. Besides it's not really much to look at anyway. I mean it's not bad, just nothing extraordinary. Has a nice caramelly aroma that alas fades quickly, yet somehow gets stronger as it warms up, as does the taste, which tastes just like it smells. You can taste the hops a wee bit. Mouthfeel is a little thin but overall feels okay. Drinkable and little better than average.
