With basketball season upon us, we’re reminded that there were two teams that joined the NBA nearly 25 years ago. Way back in 1995, brewery co-founder Adin Wener was cheering on the Vancouver Grizzlies as they won their very first game. That was the only time in their history they were over .500. The team went on to finish last in 5 of the 6 seasons it played, never won more than 30% of their games & ended up moving to Memphis with its tail between its legs in 2001. At the same time, the Raptors were setting attendance records & signing greats like Vince Carter. They made the playoffs within their first 5 years & won the Eastern Conference the same year that the Grizzlies moved south. All of which lead us to just a few months ago, with the Raps winning the NBA championship & Jurassic Parks popping up all over the country to cheer the team on. Sure, Vancouver, you’ve got mountains & all that, but we’ve got you beat on the hoops front. To show some love to our west coast cousins, we’ve collaborated with Bomber Brewery in East Van to make this brilliantly refreshing dry-hopped lager. Perfect for settling down to watch any of Canada’s teams take on the world.

Can from the Bench/Henderson Collab Mixer, pouring a clean light-golden colour with a bubbly white cap, not lasting too long, but some decent lacing spots left on the glass. Lemony aromas with a cereal grain malt base and some yeastiness. The taste is mild, with the citrus notes balanced with the cereal malts, hints of apples, pears and some light grassiness in the finish giving a last push to bring up the taste. Getting a tad pineapples as well all-around. A decent light IPL with more yeast in the nose, and lots happening in the flavours.
