Had this on cask in London. The word for this beer is "subdued." Nice pour, average sized white head. Some light grassy hops in the aroma. Nice mouthfeel with less hop bitterness than one would expect from an IPA, balanced out with sweet maltiness. I enjoyed this beer, very drinkable, but also very quiet in terms of overall flavor. Nonetheless, a well-balanced enjoyable beer.

There's something to be said for nuanced beers, but I don't think that's the case here. This one just seems...weak. Not bad, but its a little watery and lifeless. Cdecent balance between Carmel malt and lightly bitter earthy hops. No idea of the age.

Amber color with solid lip sticking foam head, lacing to glass. Aroma is of a British lager, bit bitter. Taste was great with the steak we ordered. Nice bitter aftertaste, turning bit sweet. (Barnsley 201208)

Really nice brownish color with moderate white top. Aroma is strongly hoppy and hase some hints to caramel and cookies. Taste is not very strong and besides hops a bit smokey. Aftertaste is not very strong.

Ahhhh.. first new English brew in a long time. This is the Export Strength version of 5%.
Poured out a very nice copper brew with a small white, rocky head, minimal lacing and fading crown to a ring. The aroma is interesting - good or bad I'm not sure - very sweet caramel, fresh white bread, sweet plum, nectarines that have been sliced and left in a bowl for too long, aromatic hops and some honey. The taste is appealing yet nothing too original. Oh - the plum aroma seems more like figs now. Taste: up front hops, mild bitterness that is exactly what I want out of this brew, caramel, bread crust from middle to finish. Slight alcohol is detected after a while. The bitterness is more prevalent as I near the bottom of my glass. Totally drinkable in large quantities but I do thing there are tastier options.

500ml Clear bottle, 5% abv, this is the export with higher alcohol content. this beer has a nice copper color and pours with a small off white head that dissipates quickly leaving little lace behind. it has a nice sweet/caramel/toffee smell to it. medium to thin mouthfeel with hints of sweet malt and toffee and it has a nice clean, bitter hoppy finish.I'll have another.

Bottle: Poured a clear deep orangey color ale with a medium size foamy head with OK retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of dry English style hops with some dry malt. Taste is also quite dry with some noticeable hops with a medium bitter finish. Medium body with OK carbonation. I thought this was a bit too dry and lacking in floral notes.

The one we get at the LCBO is the "Export Strength" at 5% ABV. It pours a clear caramel colour with a big foamy off-white head, some decent lacing and better than average retention. Beautiful aroma of butterscotch with a touch of hop. A very nice balance between sweet and bitterness. This is also found in the taste. Medium-thin mouthfeel that is not watery, but close (and fits well this brew). Bread and grass are also in the flavour. The sweet scent does disappear fast, as I can not find it anymore. Weird that they call this one an IPA, when it is a bitter. Oh well, like most Greene King products I have had... nothing spectacular, but quite good overall.

I was expecting more from this based on the name alone. The 'IPA' name is a gross misnomer. There was a hint of hops, but nothing that qualifies to be an IPA. Similarly the malty backbone was also weak..........almost rendering this as a weak watered down British Pale Ale.

I tried this beer on September 23, 2008 at "Smokeless Joe's" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a translucent reddish gold with a thin white head. The aroma was a little malt, some piney scents, and hops. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, with medium carbonation. The flavour was a hoppish onslaught with a nice grapefruity finish. Very drinkable.

I poured this beer wanting an IPA, and I think I got a mislabeled Bitter. Dark copper colour, little cap. A bit of a poor aroma at the initial pour that turns sweet with some hints of hops. Mouthfeel has some slight bubbles at the back of the throat, plain otherwise and finishes mildly dry. Slightly sweet flavour profile, but the hop middle somewhat redeems it, while finishing with bitter hops. Not quite what I was expecting in an IPA, and as such I didn't care for it. Maybe if I was in the mood for a bitter... but the flavour mediocrity kills that too.
