Named for the single New Zealand hop varietal featured in the beer, Pacific Gem is the latest Genius Lab release from Green Flash. Bright and fruity, Pacific Gem has a prominent blackberry aroma and balanced, flavorful characteristics. Because of its useful, high Alpha Acid beer-bittering potential, this hop is introduced throughout the boil, reinforcing the beer’s flavor and aroma. A golden, 5 SRM grist of Premium Pale 2-row, Vienna, Maris Otter and British Crystal malts allow Pacific Gem’s distinct flavors to fully dominate the brew.

Pours clear amber with a fairly thick buff head. Aroma is not strong, but features inviting malty and hoppy notes. Flavor is much bolder, more hoppy than malty, and introducing some sweet fruity character. Mouthfeel delivers decent body and firm fizz. Maybe not an out-and-out gem, but give it a fair shake.
