Wake Up Call Imperial Coffee Porter has a distinct and robust coffee flavor that blends harmoniously with the roasted malts. Caramel, chocolate, and black malts give this ale its dark color and overtones of caramel and a cocoa-like sweetness. Only very gently hopped, the addition of coffee shines through, providing a delicious accent to this brew.

This beer reminded me of drinking an iced coffee, all the coffee flavor, but none of the coffee bitter, or at least it's balanced with the malt. Wispy head, deep color, good flavor and well balanced.

750ml bottle, dated 9/22/11. Pours an opaque black with a creamy light brown head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is roasted coffee and chocolate with some burnt notes.
The flavor is chocolate malt, leather, and coffee with a burnt aftertaste. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with low creamy carbonation.
Overall, this was much better on draft than in the bottle (split the difference with the rating numbers). Draft had more bright coffee with sweet chocolate balance. Some weird leather and burnt notes in the bottle. -

A nicely done porter with a good amount of coffee. Smells of chocolate, licorice and of course, lots of coffee. Great deep, rich, black pour. Mouthfeel is pretty thin, not sure what I was expecting but not this. Flavor is coffee, some mild chocolate, nuts and bitterness and some alcohol. Overall a good light porter with a nice hint of coffee but too light on all the contributing flavors and mouthfeel.

this is a coffee porter done to near perfection, and possibly my favorite GT brew. the roasted malt, chocolate, and other beer flavors are there just enough to balance this very smooth, creamy concoction. the 7.5 is just right as well, contributing to a big smooth body that is neither swimming in coffee or too alcoholic. very well done.
