Light amber color with white foam head. Aroma is sweet caramel and some malty tones. Taste is malty, less bitter, some sweet, some spices. Aftertaste is peppery. (Lyon 201207)

Bottle, 7.2%. Golden colour with slim white head. Aroma is stale yeast and malt. Tastes better than it smells, but by no means wonderfull; thin and bland. Not one I’ll be bothering with again.

An odd looking 750mL corked-and-caged brown bottle, with very little on the label saying exactly what this beer is intended to be. I assumed it was something of Belgian-esqe ale brewed in France, which is entirely within the realm of possibility if this was brewed in the extreme North-Western corner of France. No, on contrary, this is very much more along the lines of a Strong Lager (aka Malt Liquor).

I must also post a contrary review to those posted previously. That is to say, this isn't nearly as horrible as one would assume. Is it a great example of what can be done with a style that is normally associated with "foh'ties of O.E." and ghetto-tastic crap like St Ides? That is to say, is it as interesting as the Rogue Morimoto Imperial Pilsner, Pizza Port's Brown Bag Malt Liquor, or Bear Republic's Triple J Malt Liquor? Well, no, not really.

But this is a worth-while drop, IMO. Sweet-n'-bitter, with an interesting freshness to the backend. Very easy on the mouthfeel, making for better-than-average drinkability. The flavor-profile is rather dry and grainy, with perhaps hint of sweet fruit in the mix. Nothing too avant-garde here -- this is simply a Strong Lager that goes down pretty easy, without much ado to speak of.

The official website shows a rather suspect green 33cL bottle for this beer, as well as a keg..., while the sample I have in front of me is a much classier looking 750mL (non-bottle conditioned) corked-and-caged bottle. Different beers? Or simply a matter of perception? Either way, I didn't detest this beer. No, not one bit....

Light gold color. Small fizzy white head. Aroma is apple ciderish, sweet and fruity. A light to medium bodied lager. Malts are fruity and fairly sweet. Apple and pear flavors dominate. Hops are floral and slightly spicy. Very lively carbonation. Itís a little pilsnerish, but there is still that malt liquorish corn sweetness to it as well. Light and refreshing, with a fairly noticeable alcohol flavor. Drinkable, but kind of uninspiring. Mouthfeel is a touch thin. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

re-rate, new version: clear golden colour, few head, strong herbal aroma, sweet, full with a long dry hoppy finish - fresh and robust - this is definitely not the same beer, the old version was a malt liquor, this one is close to a pils

Pours with apale yellow body topped by a medium thick, white head with lots of lacing. The aroma and flavor are both weak with a slightly sweet grassy note and a touch of lemon. Light bodied, slighlty tingly and watery.
