Celebrating my first time seeing Deep Purple live tonight with this one. Pours a golden colour with a big creamy white head that stays a long time and creates also creamy lacing. Mild Saaz hop aromas with light sweet malt, cereal notes and hints of alcohol. Medium-light bodied with a little stickiness. The floral hop is present in the taste, but not too bitter, with a touch of soap and a mild dry finish. Not a bad pilsner, but nothing out of the ordinary that I would want again.

½ liter bottle put a clear golden lager in the Plzen flute, lively carbonation, 2 finger rocky white cap. Aroma has lots of Saaz floral bouquet over some cereal undertones – clean aroma. Moderate body, peppery mouth feel, clean crisp pilsner character. Flavor profile finds some nice buscuity malts in front then a rush of herbal bittering from the hops balances the flavors on the palate…..goes to a crisp clean drying finish where bittering increases. This is a top flight Pilsner in the Czech tradition however there is a lingering bitter aftertaste present that should not be part of this style. Some will welcome it but personally I think metallic astringent bitter aftertastes are an indication of boiling hops too long – lingering bitter aftertaste seems to be a signature with this brewer. As I say, some welcome this lingering astringence but I’m not one of them. Pity, because that detracts from an otherwise perfect craft pilsner.

The beer poured a translucent gold colour with a thin off-white head and plenty of effervescence. The aroma was grainy malt, and hops. Very clean. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was crisp, clean grain with a nice bitter finish. No sweetness or garbage detected.
