Barrel Aged Vanilla Meadowfoam features our Vanilla Meadowfoam mead from last year aged for 10 months in a privately selected Elijah Craig barrel. As radical transformations go this was a fun one. Getting notes of vanilla or coconut isn’t uncommon from aging with toasted oak. It’s the very reason we barrel age whiskey and bourbon. I’ve certainly seen vanilla, but I’ve never seen the amount of coconut thrown off here. Aromatically, it’s unmistakably Meadowfoam. The vanilla flavors have morphed into something very reminiscent of coconut custard. Downright delicious!
