Brightleaf is our first Durhamer, a new style that falls somewhere between an English Mild and an American Brown; and that many breweries in Durham hope captures some of the signature flavors of this region. It pours a bright brown with an off-white head and immediately displays bready aromas of biscuit and toast as well as some subtle aromas of piney and earthy spice from Simcoe and Chinook. While approachable and refreshing, the flavors of this beer offer layers of graham cracker and hearty bread from the malt as well a mild hop presence reminiscent of NC pine forests, expressing notes of resin, pine, and a rich earthy spice character.

Taps translucent cola brown with a good light tan head. Aroma features notes of toasted malt and caramel. Flavor offers toasted malt, bready and caramel notes, not spectacular but enjoyable. Mouthfeel delivers decent body and fizz. A bright leaf.
