We took a crisp, light-bodied cherry ale and hid it away in oak barrels that have held both bourbon and maple syrup. After a lengthy stint, it emerged a changed beer, blanketed in notes of warm vanilla and earthy sweetness. The wood proves itself the star of this beer, adding depth and taming the tart cherry while the maple imposes a velvety texture that lingers for not a moment too long. Frootwood comes in at 8.0% ABV.

355 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8.0%. Pink to red colour, moderate off-white head with a hint of pink. Unusual aroma of cherries, marzipan, maple syrup, bourbon, vanilla and oak. The flavour is sweet but not cloying, again notes of cherries, maple syrup, bourbon and oak. Interesting, unusual - and good.

Pours red-tinged copper with a thick and fairly persistent pale buff head. Aroma features woody, cherry and malty notes. Flavor ups the cherry component and adds a snip of hops, a little sweet, a touch of woody bitterness. Mouthfeel presents firm, smooth body and OK fizz. Wood you like a froot beer?

Pours a transparent reddish color with a small white head that leaves some fairly good lacing. Aromas of cherries with notes of bourbon and vanilla. The taste is definitely of a fruit beer, of which I am usually not a fan of. Sweet cherries dominate the taste with bourbon, wood and vanilla. Assuming the sweetness is enhanced by the maple syrup. Yet, it is still a bit tart on the finish. An unique and interesting beer.
