Double Smoked-DoppleBock. Very smooth “just like a liquid candy bar” says Sandy. The wait is over—after 6 months of lagering. This is a big, strong (10%) malty lager with a good double dose of rauchmalt imported from Bamberg, Germany.

Beer pours brown with amber highlights, smallish head but some good lacing. Strong aroma of candied sugar and lots of smoke. The flavor is really sweet from candied sugar, some sweet caramel malts and a lot of smoke. Reminds me of some good barbecue potato chips. Only complaint is a tad overly sweet, some more earthy tones or hops would have helped.

This smoked beer pours a dark brown color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. This smoked beer pours a dark brown color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is smoked malt, smoked cheese and cherries. Medium bodied smoked beer. Malts are caramel, smoked malts, dark fruits and brown sugar, It smoke and rich, but the smokiness is not smack you in the face with a side of bacon like Schlenkerla but the smoke is there. Nice balance. Smooth taste. Malty and smoky. Can’t believe this beer is 10.2% ABV, Hides the alcohol VERY well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet and smoky.

12 oz bottle. Pours a deep ruby red-brown with a frothy light brown head that goes to a thin film that laces the glass.

The aroma is a little sweet caramel and a ton of meaty smoke. It's a big charcoal BBQ. I love the smell of a good rauchbier.

The flavor is some sweet caramel malts with a lightly bitter meaty smoke finish. The aftertaste is a little on the sweet side. The alcohol is very well hidden. It's medium bodied and smooth, low carbonation and slightly watery with a sticky sweetness.

Overall, a fine smoked beer - very Schlenkerla-esque. It's a little on the sweet side, I'd prefer a little more bitterness.
