Beer No. 5 of my flight of beers at the brewery tap. Pitch black colour, tan head. Heavily roasty aroma and flavour, notes of strong coffee and dark bitter chocolate. Pretty good stuff.

The waiter brought this as "just the regular stout". I thought it was funny that he chose those words...regular stout...as a description because it was nowhere near as tasty as the Eclips stout. Not bad, just kinda pedestrian. Aroma of toffee, alcohol, roasted malts and a touch of powdered chocolate. Flavor was strong with the alcohol, chocolate powder, roasted malts and a bit of coffee showing up. This is a kind of beer that can benefit from some age, but they serve it up fresh as a daisy. -

looks textbook. feels textbook. but there's something different about this one. less roasted malt and coffee flavors. more molasses? chicory? chocolate and dark fruit. makes for a unique tasty brew, but i do like Eclipse better. Big and thick, though the abv is well covered. worth a try.
