Bottle: Poured a deep clear copper color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and good lacing. Aroma of vanilla a bourbon with deep rich sweet malt. Taste is quite dominated by loads of sweet caramel malt with dry raisins and loads of vanilla from th bourbon. Body is slightly fuller then average with great carbonation and no apparent alcohol which is surprising considering the bourbon is so present. Well done thought the barrel aging takes too much spaces and it is sometime hard to taste the base beer.

2006 Bottle. The beer is dark copper, when held to the light you can see through it somewhat. The head was thin but stuck around. The aroma is sweet malt and maple sugar. Yum Yum. The flavour is sticky sweet with some alcohol hints and sweet malt. If it was a tad less sweet and maply, I might enjoy it better.

Once past the cheesy Hanna Barbara-inspired label graphics, this wasn't bad. It poured a darkish copper colour, and was somewhat cloudy. The tan coloured head was on the small side but did produce some decent lacing. Aroma was of spices and also malt, with some coffee lurking in the background. Taste was chiefly of maly and coffee, with the spices being a bit overwhelmed by these first two. Mouthfeel and aftertaste were not unpleasant. Not a bad beer. I was unaware of the high ABV until I took a closer look at the label; it didn't taste like a 10.5%.

07.08.05 RBSG Beautiful clouded amber, medium khaki head and lots of lace. Tobacco, apple, soy, strawberries, jammy. This stuff is out of control and just beautiful. I get some vinous notes, but not much wood, more like a younger wood aged port...but milder, not old. Palate is so soft but not at all flat.

2004... Poured a copper color with a medium sized off white head, that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of earthy, fruity, light citrus hoppiness, red wine, and vanilla oak. The taste showed lots of fruit and oak, with light bitterness, and a spicy alcohol finish.
