A killer dopplebock from Bamburg, Franken. This is the North of Bayern, and a GREAT place to drink and eat. The town is first rate and this Dbock is perfect.

Shared 500 ml bottle, at Plan B, Copenhagen, 26.05.11. BB date was 28.04.11. ABV was 8.5%. Deep golden colour, slightly hazy, moderate white head. Moderate aroma, hints of caramel and honey. The medium sweet flavour has also notes of caramel and honey, with distinct hops and alcohol in the finish.

Fränken Bierausflug, Day#5, Brewery#21, Beer#46. Yes, this what I came to Bamberg for. Served fresh vom Faß at the Brauerei-gaststätte in a tall "355 Jahre" seidel. A beautiful, impeccable clear deep copper color with a perfect and persistent tan head. Aromas of fresh hay and toasted malt. Full smooth mouthfeel, lightly sweet and rich palate. Complex balanced flavors of tasty malt and pleasant hop bitterness. Rich, smooth, delicious, and eminently drinkable despite the 8.5% ABV; superb in every respect. Ausgezeichnet!

Bottled. Amber colour, small head. Aroma is grass, earth and some sweet malts. Flavour is malts, some diacetyl, bittering flowery hops and some mild notes of caramel. Hides the alcohol very well, easy to drink.

Pours out amber colour with a creamy white head. Simplistic sweet and grassy aroma, small hints of almond and "noble" hops. Malty grassy flavour, hints of nuts and toffee but the pale malts dominates. Grassy and plain boring aftertaste

Here it is-bring 'em on and Bambagator will slay 'em all. Full body, This is brewed in Oktober, and beats the hell outta anything I have seen from Munchen in this month. Superior to any ofthe Dbocks in Munchen save for Perlach, this is a world beater brew. Fresh from the brewery, perfection.
