As a true ice cidre "Cidre de Givre" expresses with intensity the flavors of the apples from Domaine Etienne Dupont. It is derived from E. Dupont Cidre Bouche Brut 2005 by freezing it and then removing the frozen water.

Feb. 2013: 375 ml bottle, as Givre Millesime 2009, from Vinmonopolet, bestillingsutvalget / nettbutikken. ABV is 7%. Deep amber to brown colour, no carbonation. Strong aroma of oak and fortified wine - the apples are there in the background. Very sweet and intense flavour, notes of sweet apples, raisins, oak and fortified wine.

2006 vintage, fancy green glass bottle with yellow wax pours with a murky messy looking amber body that has thin copper hues. The aroma entices with billowing caramel candy notes as well as butterscotch candy and toffee. Wow! Cool. The taste is virtually the same as smooth caramel candy and toffee notes rule the experience and thin snippets of apple are noticed out at the flavor periphery.

2006 vintage. Rich orangey to brownish color, no head, no lacing (duh!). The aroma was full apples, cidery, with a little bit of a spicey wood type touch to it. The flavor followed the aroma, along with some caramel-like notes. The downfall of the flavor was too much sweetness, which didn't get mellowed by this cider's other qualities. Alcohol didn't play a strong role in the flavor. A nice little treat, but certainly not worth the dollars, nor does it come close to the Face Cachee ice cider that boboski so generously shared with me back in March.
