10.1 ABV%- Took me a while to get to this, as I thought it would be sweeter than it is. Not as overwhelming as originally expected. Still, resembles a strong ale with a decent alchohol bite. Balance is ok, almost barleywineish but not as hoppy. Amber appearance. Lots going on with the flavor...sweet & tart fruits, etc. Worth the try, but not the style I prefer, as I'd rather go with a lighter Scottish Ale.

After trying two different Erie brews, I was looking forward to this one. Pour was dark cherry amber with smallish head and no lacing. Weak aroma of sweet malt. The flavor was loads of sweet sticky malts, brown sugar and some mild fruity aspects. Way sweet and a little tough to drink. The other Erie brews were very interesting, this one was dull and one dimensional. Tasted like a handful of other Americanized low end scottish ales (or even dopplebocks) that lack any earthy or smokeyness to balance out all the sweet.

KSBF07 Poured a dark copper color with small head. Aroma was caramel brown sugar and wood. Flavor was much the same with some floral hops and some fruit in there. Little to sweet.

KSBF07. Deep amber to copper color, thin off-white head. Aroma was woodsy / outdoorsey, caramel, and brown sugar or molasses. The flavor was fruity woodsy-ish, caramel malts, molasses, and bittering/floral-like hops in the finish. The body was moderate for the style, a decent but not great beer. Re-rate, 12/07, bottle (Cease & Desist Label): Full malt body, woodsy-caramel most notable, alcohol not strong in the profile, but noticeable. An ok brew, original rating stands.

Scottish Ale eh, don't know about that seems more of a Strong Ale at best. I checked around and the word is out that this seems to be listed as a Scottish Ale, I just don't buy it. Anywho, this beast of burden is decent and packs a whallop. Candy sweet aroma tends to flare the nostrils. Amber pour, head, minimal splotches of lacing. This one bites you on the way down, fuller than I expected and the finish is reminiscent of a good whiskey. Sweet and a tad fruity, this one is candy sugary. Wow, respect the serving and take your time.
