Spiral Jetty India Pale Ale is the launching point in our series of hoppy IPA brews. Spiral Jetty IPA has an aggressive hop profile (five different hops used here with two in the dry hop) presenting citrus, floral, resinous or pine aromas and flavors typical of American hops and a nice pleasant, cleansing bitterness on the finish. The dominance of the hops helps to balance the complex malt flavors and the higher alcohol content. Spiral Jetty is our strongest Classic Series ale at 6.6% alcohol by volume, but certainly not our strongest beer.

Picked one of these up at Epic in SLC. Pours a clear copper colour, vibrant and well carbonated. Nose is a tad weak, but some faint pine coming through. Taste is clean, crisp and tropical.

Reminiscent of a good English iPa. Not my first choice but this has redeeming qualities. There's an ever so slight aroma and flavor of cedar in the background which is this beers saving grace. For all the hoopla of the different hops and double dry hopping, it's very tame for an iPa, more like a pale ale. Good balance and a hint of fruit. Maybe hopper fresh-no bottle date. Bottle courtesy of Travis.

Drank in my basement, wait I doen’t have a basement! Oh the beer just smells like a basement, nevermind. Also some citrus and band aid aromas, pheee ewwww! The flavor contains citrus but its more sour than bitter. This beer tastes old but I know it really isn’t. The place I bought this is a beer geek type place with high turnover of bottles. Overall how can the same people make Hopulent that make this?

Epic is recently on oHIo shelves so I figured I'd start out with their regular IPA and see where it goes from there. Awesome, vibrant pour with a frothy white head that eventually settles leaving plenty of lacing behind. Grassy, citrus aromas. Clean and bitter, easy after taste. Some lemon and orange along with a smattering of pine, biscuit and a hint of caramel. Good IPA and fairly standard these days.
