Coffee pretty dominant in the nose and flavor (not that there's anything wrong with that), but it does make for a somewhat one dimensional brew. Big n thick, chewy. Roasted malt, chocolate Carmel and a lite bitterness fight for attention user the joe.

A dark brown-mahogany colored beer with a big frothy textured light beige head rising above. There's some retention in the head. A thick ringlet is left behind. Coffee. Espresso profile so dominate in the nose and tasting with some roasty malt in the tasting. Light medium bodied and smooth.

330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9.5%. Black colour, ruby in the highlights, large to moderate tan head. Roasty aroma with strong notes of espresso coffee, hints of dark chocolate. The flavour is very roasty and seems first quite dry, intense notes of espresso coffee, maybe too much. I’d like a little more sweetness, to balance the roastiness and the bittering hops in the finish. Still a fine beer as it is, but requires that you don’t hate coffee.

Bottled@SBWF2010. Quite much pitch black colour, small beigeish brown fluffy head. Aroma is coffee, roasted malts, some liquorice along with chocolate as well. Flavour is a bunch of coffee, some dark chocolate, mild roasted malts, liquorice and also some slight notes of burning alcohol.

had twice, first bottle was right out of my suitcase, a few hours after landing back home from my vacation in SA and Amsterdam, 2nd bottle had last night to analyze for a rating.. . aroma of sweet tar and cocoa powder .. . coats the mouth with a espresso coating .. . lots of espresso, road tar, and dark chocolate .. . probably amazing with a few years on it. .. another winner from Emmelisse! .. . your husband. . . he's quite the philodendron.
