Smell and taste most notably like cocoa powder. Big chocolate flavors, fudgy but light on the palate. This went down real easy and I figured it for about 7-8% abv. Bready malts and leafy green hops add to flavor. Some dry nutty tastes on the back end with hints of spiced fruit like apples, plums.

It pours a dark and muddy brown with a thick and pillowy light-tan head and some strong lacing hanging on. An aroma of roasted malts, cocoa, coffee, orange and citrus blend, raisins and dark fruits, light molasses, and spiciness. The mouthfeel is smooth and fairly rich. Flavors of roasted malts, cocoa, coffee, oranges, raisins, molasses, and alcohol and spices. Excellent!

pours a dark ruby brown colour with a giant beige creamy head; beautiful lace; discrete aroma where just some cookie, earthy notes are coming through; creamy mouthfeel and a robust malt body; some acidic sharpness and a decent finishing bitterness before a moderately dry, malty and nutty aftertaste

(My version was 8%, not 10% as mentioned). Dark ruby red colour, huge beige creamy head. Aroma is roasted coffee, toffee, caramel, slightly bready and alcoholic. Flavour is toffee, alcohol, chocolate some raisins and plum. Roasted malts and coffee come in as it gets warmer, as does the alcohol. Creamy palate, a bit empty in the finish and aftertaste, but wellworth the money!

Hazy brown appearance. Rich fluffy beige foam. Salty and oily aroma of fresh grassy hops, hints pepper and hazelnuts. Spicy and hoppy flavour of wet grass, hints of lemon-peels, earth and yeast. Creamy mouthfeel. Dry hoppy aftertaste.

Rerated, still a very nice brew. I stand by the previous rating. Very large tan colored head. Body is a dark brown with amber on the edges when held to the light. Aroma of light pears and nutmeg. The taste is a spicy pear and Golden Delicious apple. Has some notes of nutmeg. This finishes dry and woody. A very nice brew. This is classy all the way. A very good example of the style.

This brew pours with a dark brown body topped by a thick head with some lacing. The aroma and flavor are slightly sweet and malty with dark fruit notes and a touch of spice. Medium to full bodied and smooth.

A brand new selection discovered at the Sharp Edge Creekhouse. Loterbol Brune is your typical Belgian brown ale only it doesn't bowl you over with its strength. The 8% ABV is very well hidden in this smooth ale. A big thick sudsy foamy off white head comes off the pour from the bottle. The hue is chocolate to hazelnut brown. Deep caramel and chocolate notes along with a yeasty roasted barley malt flavor dominate on the taste buds. Loterbol Brune is very milk shake or stout like in its taste. It is silky and has a buttery quality that is not too sweet, but very mild unlike most Belgian browns. A very warming mouthfeel and a light bitter aftertaste exists. This one was an eye opener and is distinctive in it’s own right. Very tasty.
