This is a stout, a plain simple stout. Not an Irish stout, and not a specialty stout…just a stout. A black pour with a dark brown creamy head, this is only available on draught. Roasted malt and coffee dominate the aroma, while the flavour has more of a chocolatey feel to it. Nothing outstanding, just a solid beer!

This beer pours a very dark brown, almost black into the glass. The head is tan coloured, thin, and creamy. The aroma is roasted malt, some coffee, some chocolate, plums, and a little hops. The flavour was rather weak, cold watery chocolate milk was my take, with a bitter chalky finish.

I tried this beer on January 28, 2008 at "Smokeless Joe's" in Toronto. The beer was dark brown/black in the glass with a thin, creamy light brown head. The aroma was roasted malt. chocolate, and raisin. The mouthfeel was full-bodied, creamy, with medium carbonation. The flavour was roasted malt, a little coffee, and a little licorice. -

Summer: 2005. Taste alsmost like a smokey, stout, old ale. Had a certain rusty and brute flavour, very altogether, and very blunt. Drinkable but not refreshing per say. An interesting take for certain.
Sampled a second time, March 2006. A much different experience from the first tasting. In fact, an all together different beer it seems. Some friends (far more knowledgeful than I) informed me that often it is different every batch. Hard to say whether this was better or worse, so no marks adjusted. This round had less flavour, less hops. Funny how the beer could change from one to the next.
