The Bière de Belœil is a top fermentation beer with refermentation in the bottle and with an amber colour. The creation of this beer in 1988, happened on demand of the village of Belœil, well-known for its “Château de Belœil”. Although at first only available in this area, the demand of this amber beer is becoming more and more increasing. Its colour, taste and aromas are the result of a brewing process, which is a mixture of 5 different types of malt. When tasting, especially the aromas of these special malts, in combination with the fine hop varieties, will dominate. This rather complex beer has a real refermentation in the bottle which will continue for a long time in your cellar

Shared a 750ml bottle at Pub Italia with Chopz. Pours a fairly large frothy off-white head. Has a cloudy dark orangey appearance with sediments clearly visible. Sticky lacing. Aromas of barley malts, notes of apples. Flavours are a good mix of caramel hints and apple notes. Some bready malt and yeasty notes as well as some dried fruits more in the finish. Medium body. Medium retention.

Shared with PaleAleRider at Pub Italia. Best before date is 04/2108. Couldy caramel colour with yeast floating around. Smooth-looking, light-beige coloured head that is creamish, with nice lacing. Aromas of yeast with caramel and hints of bananas, apples and spices. Smooth mouthfeel with light dryness that builds up with time. Taste of well-blended caramel, yeast, dates, prunes, apples, bready malts and grassy notes. One that gets better and better as it warms up, with lots going on.

solid brew...slightly rustic and saison like, also described as a strong belgian pale ale, though not as hoppy as many of those. Overall, it was a solid fruity belgian...light on spice, slightly funky with loads of pleasing fruit. Bottle less enjoyable than tap - too carbonated.

Shared bottle, RBNAG 2011 in Oslo. Deep golden to amber colour. Main impression of both aroma and flavour is "moderate everything" - but this would probably stand out as a decent saison if sampled on its own, and not in immediate connection with many sours. Decent hops in the finish.

Bottle: Poured a dark dirty beige color ale with a large foamy head with great retention and good lacing. Aroma of Belgian malt with some notes of peppery yeast. Taste is also dominated by some semi-sweet Belgian malt with some notes of peppery yeast and a final dominated by some dry floral hops. Body is full with some limited filtration and some great carbonation and no alcohol was apparent. Very complex and very well done for this fine brewery.

Bottled. Deep nutbrown hazy colour with mediumsized white head. Aroma is caramel malts, spices and some slight hops. Flavour is yeast, caramel, earth and sourness. Twisted mix, but at the same time really pleasant.
