COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION After years of amassing booty on the high seas, Drake’s Jolly Rodger naturally acquired a taste for the finer coffees brought to life by artisan, specialty roasters. That’s why this year, Jolly teamed up with Blue Bottle Coffee’s meticulous roasters in Oakland for his latest incarnation, Jolly Rodger 2014 Coffee Imperial Stout. Rich and complex, this beer features luscious chocolaty and subtle roasted malt flavors that blend expertly with a specially made roast of Kenyan Kangunu coffee to create aromas of caramelized stone fruit and flavors of black currant, tobacco, and caramel.

22oz bomber pours with a nice deep dark body that supports a nice looking mocha colored head that leaves behind some spotty lacing. The aroma offers up dark roasted malts, chocolate and some coffee that has a slight earthy sense to it. The taste starts with malt sweetened dark roasted coffee that rolls straight into chocolate and growing dark roastiness that’s both malts and coffee. Another great offering from Drake’s.

Thanks again Chris - you are the KING of beer selection. You know what I like. This was a REALLY good beer. Big on booze and malts. If I knew better, I would've sat on this one for a year or so. I think that as good as it is, it would've been even better with some age. The beer was mostly heavy malt, coffee and some hints of leather. The hops were present but mostly as a balance to the malt bill. Good head retention, good lacing. Thank you so much!
