Dark brown body. The head is average size and fleeting, fading almost entirely. The aroma almost scorches the sinuses with cloves. I think I can pick up a hint of cinnamon, maybe nutmeg and it could be a little ginger. Crawford won't tell us the spices so it's all a guess. The flavor is more clove underneath which I get a little brown sugar and melon. If you gave it a year to mellow the spices, I could see this becoming a nice beer, but they went a little crazy with the cloves.

Thanks to KP for sharing this one. Dark brown color. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is brown sugar, dark fruit and sweet. Medium bodied winter ale. Malts are fruity and sweet. Lots of brown sugar and molasses. Lots of apples cider and spice flavors as well. Very nice winter ale. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Smells of strong ginger and cinnamon. Appearance is a nice dark brown. Flavor is SPICE! Overload going on here. Cinnamon, ginger, and cloves is all I can taste. I enjoy a nice spiced winter beer but this is too much. It's darn close to a drain pour. I still appreciate biermonk giving me this beer and he did warn me of the excess spice. Bottom line don't seek this out, just get the regular Dogwood 2003-2004 winter ale its a very good beer.
