Red Chair IPA is named after the oldest operating lift at Mt. Bachelor, a classic old school double that locals flock to on fresh powder mornings. This beer has been wildly popular with our pub regulars, who always seem to know when we have hit on something special. This IPA is a bright copper beauty with a solid head and perfect lacing that typifies Deschutes ales. It has a plush body with satiny caramel flavors derived from seven varieties of malt. Despite all of this, Red Chair is still a hop forward ale, but not in the way many have gotten used to. You will find no cloying, mouth puckering bitterness here. In its place a straight up succulent citrus punch to the nose.

Another good, solid beer from Deschutes. Red chair pours a orange- bronze colored beer, not much head or lace though. As Beav pointed out it is on the subdued side in regards to the aroma and flavor, but what is present is nice; a fresh, hoppy citrus presence that as advertised isnt bitter. Its not terribly aggressive, but thats not what the brewers aimed for. They aimed for a well rounded, drinkable IPA and thats what it is.

Yahoo...a new beer from our good friends at Deschutes. I always look forward to a new release from them and this one doesn't dissapoint! Pours a deep dark orange/amber in color with finger thick fluffy head and tons of lacing. I must admit, I'm a little underwhelmed by Deschutes' regular hoppy beers (Quail Springs, Inversion IPA, and Mirror Pond Pale). None are bad at all, but none are among my favorites, like many of Deschutes other styles. For some reason, though, they really don't mess around with their 22's. I love Hop Trip, thoroughly enjoy Hop Henge, and if this one took Inversions place as their year-round IPA, I think I'd just have to wet myself. The aroma is amazingly hoppy & fresh with a hint of malty sweetness underneath. They set out to make a minimally bitter IPA and did just that, but not by sacrificing hops. The flavor is very citrus hop forward, with some bready and sweet malt undertones, is incredibly smooth, medium bodied, and has a lasting hoppy finish. All with only 55 IBUs. A great session IPA, if such a thing exists. Great, somewhat unique beer. fresh hops without the bitter bite.
