This year's imperial Black Butte is full of subtle flavor from cocoa nibs and dark chocolate from Theo's Chocolate in Seattle; to intensify your experience, we added Seville orange zest and pasilla negra chile peppers. Served in a 10oz. Snifter The much anticipated bottle release of Black Butte XXII is being canceled this year. It is with great sadness that we make this announcement but the the visual presentation in the bottle is not up to Deschutes Brewery’s long held commitment to quality and the customer experience. There will be very limited amounts of draft Black Butte XXII available at the Deschutes Bend Pub, Portland Pub and the Tasting Room where Deschutes staff can monitor it closely and take appropriate action if the beer becomes visually unacceptable.

Another beer I was lucky to get to try this weekend when I was at their pub. This year's release of Black Butte got screwed up. The experimental chocolate they used this time did not dissolve properly, so they are not shipping the bottles. They have it occasionally on draft at their pubs. This one was an explosion of flavors. Chocolate, spice, licorice, vanilla, and orange. Creamy and smooth. Great body. What a pleasant delivery of alcohol. I need to go back and get more!
