Dark brown, almost black with small brown foam head, lacing to glass. Aroma is toffee, like the taste. Little bitter taste and short bitter aftertaste. (Velp 201206

if not for the out of control yeast which bubbled over and gave the beer major floatie issues even with a slow-ass gentle pour, this beer would have been epic. the aroma and flavor are simply fantastic! reminiscent, a little, of bottled NC Rasputin, but with more tar, a touch of dark fruit, licorice, and smoke. carbonation high, but the feel manages to still be big slick and oly. awesome beer i'd like to have kegged...the yeast issue was almost a turn-off.

330 ml capped and waxed bottle, brewed 7th Nov. 2009, bottled 6th Dec. 2009. Bottle No. 190 (of 1284 from this batch). OG 1115, FG 1031. EBC colour 308.9. EBU 99.9. ABV is 10.2%. Declared good for 25 years if kept cool and dark - feels like a sort of sacrilege to drink it now ... Pitch black colour, big and lasting brown head. Lovely roasty aroma, distinct notes of coffee and dark bitter chocolate. The flavour has an intense roasted character, notes of coffee and dark bitter chocolate again, also hints of liquorice, molasses and dark dried fruits. Bitter hops in the finish. Brilliant stuff.

Price not withstanding, this is one seriously phenomenal beer. Shared with my brother and both of us knew that this was the beer of the night for us. A deep choco/coffee aroma with some anise, charcoal, toffee, dark nougat, vanilla and pine. Smooth, silky texture. Flavor is a cavalcade of flavors. Bitter walnuts, huge dark chocolate, an almost Kaluha like flavor at times, coffee creamer, heavy roasted coffee beans, vanilla, tobacco, alcohol, and dried figs. Stunning.

Bottled. Black colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is coffee, nuts, chocolate, roasted malts and some mild caramelly notes. Flavour is nuts, coffeebeans, alcohol, chocolate, roasted malts and some mild cocoa. Kickass, and all this package in a nice and smooth balance.

Pours out in a opaque black colour with an eruptive pale brown foam. Rich spicy aroma of salt and anise with a dense background of dark chocolate and cookies. Full-bodied with notes of salt, tar, licorice and black chocolate with smooth undertones of cookies and almonds. Long bitter finish of tar and black chocolate.
