I had this beer in January 2008, while on a work trip to New Orleans. It was talked up nicely by the waitress serving our table that night. Out of the group of guys I was with, I was the only one who decided to break away from the norm and order this one. When she brought the tall boy to the table, I was immediately greeted by a wonderfully smelling, dark brown brew that when held up to the light, had a reddish tint to it. Having not had too many Doppelbock's before, I wasn't sure what to expect, but when I dove right in, it was great!
Writing this review a few weeks after having it and having not written any notes, I'm struggling to put words to it. What I do remember was a smooth drinking, malty sweet brew with a twinge of sourness to it on the aftertaste. I'm bummed I didn't snag a growler of this brew, stuff it in my suitcase, and bring it home because I really enjoyed it. I'm curious to see what others here have to say about this. 8's across the board on this one from me though.
