Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7
Rated in June 2011. Poured up via firkin at the Cigar City Tasting room. It has a hazy copper to gold body holding up a tiny loose white head. The aroma begins sort of neutral and then quick offers up sweet chocolate, some earthiness and then a bit of a lemon like citrus note. The taste is right over on the fresh side with crisp grainy malts, some lemon like notes and then a modest amount of sugary white chocolate (coming from the mix of vanilla beans and cacao nibs). It seems these flavors are not really meant to go together but I think the flavor ratio attained is about the best it could be. That left me reflecting on how much I actually enjoyed this one. Well done, not sure there’s any room for improvement here.
