Rated in July 2009. Growler pours a clear amber with minute long tan head that shrunk to a persistent ring. The aroma has roastiness, earthiness and a very mild level of dark chocolate. The taste starts with a creamy overture of sweetness and a modest vague hop bite that is enhanced by an upwelling of carbonation. From midway and to the finish the chocolate makes an appearance and then gets swallowed up by a resurgence of roastiness. The chocolate seemed to reside mostly in the realm of just noticeable. I’d like to try it with something a bit more than that.
