We love our lager yeast so much that we’re gonna keep pumpin’ ‘em out. Today we’re tapping Ligero, a black lager. It’s a traditional schwarzbier: black, roasted and nutty. It’s low in alcohol at about 5% and quite easy to quaff. Look for Ligero in the tasting room, or at your favorite pub: we made a lot of it, so it’ll hit distribution! And to get this out of the way now: yes, you can get growlers, and no, we have no plans to bottle anytime soon!

Rated in 2012. The “32oz” swing top growler, courtesy of markwise, pours nice and dark with light colored mocha head. The aroma offers up dark roasted malts, a bit of spicy black licorice and then a very light note of a sour almost soured milk note. The taste delivers a similar experience only in flavor form with dark roasted malts, some burnt malts, black licorice and then an interesting slightly soured yeastiness. Cool stuff.

They do not bottle this yet. Glad I got to try local in Orlando without having to be in Tampa or at the brewery. Pretty good for the style. Nice malty content, but thinner than a stout or porter. Near black appearance. Flavor is sweet..mildly hopped. A little pricey, but good enough to try again...preferably in bottles and retail.

A black colored beer with a small light tan head rising above. There's some retention in the head. Amedium ringlet is left behind. A light ose but the general profile is roasty malts with hints of coffee and earthiness. Medium bodied and smooth. Not bad
