Rated in Aug. 2010. Growler pours deep clear copper with full tan head. The aroma begins with a hit of spicy cedar planks followed quickly by sweetened grapefruit and pineapple. The taste begins in a similar fashion with spicy cedar wood notes quickly followed by bitter grapefruit like hoppiness and then increasing malty sweetness. The bitter hops and spicy wood notes come to the fore every now and then and pretty much take over into the finish. The cedar has created improved balance to the sweet (yummy) barleywine onslaught.
