Pours a clean deep red-copper colour with a frothy beige head that stays a while. Lacing is present, but disappears quickly. Big nutty smell at first, and then some dark fruits appear. Plums, raisins and then some caramel and spices. The alcohol is also there. It nicely disappears in the taste and mouthfeel though. Quite smooth overall. Flavours of roasted malts, nuts, mild caramel and the dark fruits are mostly hidden in the back. Damn smooooooth !

I tried this beer on January 16, 2009 at "Smokeless Joe's" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a tranclucent dark reddish brown with a thin tan-coloured head. The aroma was sweet malt, molasses and candy sugar. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was caramel malt, slightly grassy, molasses, with a bitter finish. -

I was able to grab this recently from a friend. The beer pours a dark brown with reddish hints and little head. The aroma is dark fruit, molasses and malt. The flavour is pretty sweet with a nice finish.

2 liter swing top growler (I bought 3) Decants an unfliltered dark brown with a decent sand colored persistent cap that lasts and laces. Thick malty molasses cookie dough aromas over light floral hopping. Ambrosia for the bock fancier! Rich full bodied character, Thick dark toffee bundt cake doughy tastes up front are stopped from being cloying by a herbal rush of tettnanger and hersbruker hops, mid palate some rich minimal complexity then a thick lingering satisfying finish. Great winter bock and my second favorite offering from this great artisinal lager brewer.

Bottled. Amber/red colour, not much head at all. Aroma is banana, caramel, malts and wheat. Flavour is spices, yeast, malts and hops. Quite smooth bokbier.
