We only produce this wine strength stout once a year, so enjoy it while you can. The dark, strong and complex style developed when the British shipped stout to the Tsars of Russia in the early 1800's.

Poured an opaque black color with a medium sized tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of raspberry, chocolate, roasted malts, and light smoke, but the fruitiness dominated. Taste of more roasted malts, char, chocolate, and dried fruits, with light alcohol, and a creamy mouthfeel.

Not quite black. Darkest ruby. Nice light tan pitted head. Sweet caramel malt aroma. Chocolate, low hops. nice cherry and stone fruit. Body a bit light and bubbly. Mike passed on the brewer’s disclaimer that it might be a little oxidized from it’s age (3 years), but this tasted perfectly fine to me. One of the better beers at the imperial stout tasting.
