In 1840 the good ship ’Portenia’ first arrived at the Clutha mouth docking in Port Molyneaux. On board were a group of hardy land prospectors and the first agricultural settlers in the region. Port Molyneaux became a bustling coastal village until the mighty flood of 1878 when the town was obliterated and the landscape changed forever.
