Gosh. I'm really torn about this brew. First off, I liked it. No qualms about it there. But second, it reminded of nothing like a saison. While everyone is constantly stretching the boundaries, this had me thinking it would be soemthing else. Regardless it was happening and I dug it. Not so much golden as it was amber hue. Interesting flavor profile. No spice, more smoke. Yowza.

This is one of three saisons offered at the Cascade Barrel House last week. It was my least favorite of the three. Compared to the house saison, this one was a little more gold in color, but with less foam. Also much less flowery with more of a hop aroma. This version is supposed to be smokey, but I honestly couldn't sense much of it. To me it was more like a deadened version of their standard.
