Long Leg is a traditional, full flavoured, golden ale exclusively brewed using Fuggle hops, both in the copper and as a late addition to give a distinctive, late copper hop flavour. The name honours the tradition of hop picking on stilts in order to harvest the tall crop.

This golden ale pours a medium orange gold color from a 50cl bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is malty and sweet with a touch of citrusy hops. A medium bodied golden ale. Malts are caramel and sweet. Hops are citrusy an herbal. A touch lactic and perhaps some diacetyl going on, but not really in a bad way. Nice fugal hop finish. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter and earthy.

~ 500mL bottle, picked up at Weinhaus, Asheville NC for $2.99, and sampled while home in San Diego CA.
The first of several bottles that I picked up at the Weinhaus two weeks ago. And despite some later doubts on the quality of the beers sold there (the store has their beer section quite close to the front window of the store), I can say that at least this particular beer is no worse for the wear, for the most part.
Not sure how old this is. The rather sedate carbonation levels of this one may simply be intended by the brewer to try to replicate this from a cask-conditioned firkin or what have you. But even with not much in the way of head, the mouthfeel still has enough gumption and hints of spritz to make things interesting.
"Interesting" is also the catch-phrase here for the flavor profile. Fuggles are in full-force, naturally, but not in a heavy-handed way (read: Shipyard's "Fuggles IPA"). Rather, this reminded me of a rather sedate and laid-back Bitter, that I could see making a nice dent in my drinking session.
Not a wholly wonderful beer -- it's a little basic in the nose, for example, and *not* bottle-conditioned -- but still, a nice enough beer, and for a fair price, I'd say.
Music: Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles' "Knuckletracks 96" compilation.

The body is amber with a slight bit of hazing. The head is small and short-lived. The aroma is a good bit of honey with the fuggles putting in a good impersonation of tea, so it’s a bit like drinking a cup of tea with honey. The flavor is lightly sweetened crackers or a really dry shortbread cookie with the slightest bit of bitterness to balance it out. Pretty easy drinking and a bit interesting.

Bottled. Pale golden, mediumsized foamy head. Nice hoppy fruitish aroma. Fruitish hoppy flavour with bitterish ending and aftertaste. Dry finish and a bit sticky mouthfeel. Wellbalanced.

Pours with a rather large white head that fades to a thin head but does not dissapate. The body is gold colored with lots of carbonation moving slowly. Aroma is strong with peaches and strawberries. Also notes wheat. the taste is fairly full with some strange menthol notes (almost like Saaz, but the bottle says it is Fuggles). It has some sweet honey and a little bit of caramel in the finish. The mouthfeel is nice with just a little bit of carbonation in the back of the throat. A decent summer brew.

This was alright. Not very entertaining, except for the fact that I drank it after drinking leghumper. :) thin and watery to the taste. some hops come throughdespite the thin palate, and almost a hint of wheat... one of those you have to taste a few times.

Bottle from Asda. Poured a nice pale golden colour, with a minimal head. Aroma is hoppy with malt. Citrusy and hoppy flavour, with a hoppy bitter finish.Medium mouthfeel with some carbonation. Had this cold from the fridge, as it's warming I'm getting more sweetness in the taste. Anyway, good beer.
