Revolution XI, the hop monster that celebrates our 11th Anniversary, is a fat & chewy Imperial IPA that is over the top on hop flavor and aroma. The piney hop character is derived from a blend of five different hop varities: New Zealand Hallertau, Magnum, Chinook, Amarillo, and Simcoe.

Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Pours out in a hazy amber colour with a small white head. Surprisingly mild and subtle aroma of grass, pepper, biscuit, herbs, butter and alcohol. Sharp resiny and sweet full flavour of oranges, lychee, rose hip and brown sugar. Bitter finish of lychee with plenty of sugar and canned oranges in the aftertaste. Weird DIPA.

This tastes more like an average homebrew than commerical imperial IPA. Slightly fruity hops, but they come through more as a harshness in the finish than a true hoppiness. The flavor has that apple-like quality that some of the dump and stir beers I’ve had.

This Imperial IPA pours a deep orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head, with nice retention and decent lacing. Aroma is malty, fruity and sweet. There is some hop aroma, but not that much really. A medium bodied Double IPA. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are piney and citrusy, but kind of hide in the background. You know they are there, and there is definitely some hop bitterness, but they kind of hide in the background, they linger around and dart out at your taste buds. Much closer to a barley wine than an Imperial India Pale Ale, and if I had to put it in a class it would be a Barley Wine. Still, it’s a nice beer. Lots of malt sweetness balanced by some nice hop flavors and bitterness. Seems a little under carbonated. Very drinkable beer. Hides the 8.6% alcohol very well. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
