Burnside Sweet Heat is a wheat ale with an addition of 200 pounds of Apricot puree, then dry hopped with imported Jamaican Scotch Bonnet peppers. Reminiscent of a Caribbean chutney, Sweet Heat has a subtle tartness from the fruit with a slight spiciness from the peppers which also adds a fruitiness to the aroma.

Bottle from the brewery, shared amongst friends. Light golden amber pour, slight head and lacing. Nice apricots and Scotch pepper aromas, nice sweet fruits, more peppers, little noticeable hops. Taste is at first light heat and apricots and baked peaches, then the heat is more intense as it lingers creating a nice slow Jamaican Jerk burn. Fantastic beer if you like a bit of heat. Would pair nicely with Jamaican or Thai foods. Really tasty with a nice heat linger. Musical Pairing: R L Burnside - Burnside on Burnside - Miss Maybelle. Great live recording from R L Burnside recorded on Burnside Records on Burnside St at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland. Sweet Heat indeed.

Wonderful combo of fruit and heat. Ample, but not overly sweet apricot and scotch bonnet peppers (a favorite of mine) play really well together. The heat is enough to notice but not enough to overpower the tart fruit, and the pepper flavor stays with toy afterwards. For this on tap, and have a bottle for next week...
