From Bluesandbarbq. Kind of funny that Reno is just a couple hundred miles up the road, and yet this beer only made it into my pint glass via TN. A nice light lager for sure...not real heavy on the tongue, some whiffs of roasted malts, no noticeable alcohol flavor. It is a bit discombobulating to see a beer so dark in the glass that tastes so light and refreshing. I like beers that come in cans, too. I hope more breweries are doing this.

Big black beer in a can: thinnish black pour with a tight tan head and just a little lacing. Roasted malt aroma, slightly sweet, some molasses, light hops. Taste is much the same with a fairly thin mouthfeel. Not a stellar Schwarzbier but still pretty good. Go for the Germans or Sprecher Black Bavarian if you can find them.

Canned@SBWF2010. Hazy brown colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is mild rye bread, some toffee and chocolate. Flavour is liquorice, toffee, some ryebread and mild acidicness as well.

Sampled on 4/16/2010. This schwarzbier pours a medium to dark brown color from a 16oz can. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is roasted malt, cereal and sweet. A medium bodied schwarzbier. The malts are slightly roasty malt, cereal and a touch sweet. The hops are earthy. Lively carbonation. There is a slightly metallic and a touch vegetative aftertaste, not bad but kind of noticeable. There is something not quite right here, I wonder if it’s the can somehow. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter, metallic and vegetative.

Can, home. My first beer from Nevada. Dark brown beer with a dissipating off-white head. The aroma is muted, but there’s some nutty roasted malt character. The flavor is a bit too sweet for me. There’s a weak coffee note and too much fruit, lemons, raisins. The mouthfeel is a tad thin. The beer feels smaller than 5.2% abv. It’s not a bad beer, but it’s disappointing for what I like about the style.

Courtesy of SLOWRUNNER. Poured a deep clack color with a thin head. The lacing was decent, however appeared lacking for the style. Had aromas of coffee with some roasted malt to reinforce it. Had dry roasted flavors with a heavier mouthfeel.

From Beerhunter via slowrunner: Dark brownish-black colour, roasted malts, toasty and caramel notes. A little bit of cinnamon on the nose as well. Taste is rich and creamy. Brown sugar and some plum or prune in the finish. A really nice beer from these folks!

overall, an ok effort for this new local brewery. waaaaaaaay better than the orange soda...er, blossom ale. this has a nice, light palate for a dark beer, and a decent balance, it just doesn't do anything special to stand out.
